Job Description: 

Our client is a family-owned produce wholesale-distributor of fresh produce in the Texas, New Mexico and Northern Mexico areas. Nearly 30 years in business, they have built their reputation and business on providing their customers’ with great quality, food safety and excellent service.

Located in a beautiful area of New Mexico, this city sits in the high desert with an attractive, modern downtown while still incorporating the Old Town benefits. This true Southwestern town offers rich culture and heritage with sun that shines 300 days per year.

Our client is seeking a General Manager who has both produce and sales experience along with strong organizational and communication skills to manage operations and customer service in New Mexico.

Compensation/Salary:

Requirements: 
  • At least 5 years of experience in produce, wholesale/distribution, sales and administrative management.
  • Experience with developing truck delivery routes and maximizing freight efficiencies within daily deliveries.
  • Have a customer service background with experience in sales.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, team building and coaching skills. Along with the ability to motivate and develop team member skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. With the ability to balance costs and customer service needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability (strong relational competence).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.
  • Demonstrates ability to build coalitions.
  • Strong knowledge of MS office platform.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

The ideal candidate is passionate about agriculture and will become an integral member in our organization. This person will have at least 5 years’ experience and have worked in a produce wholesale-distribution capacity with sales and administrative leadership. Responsibilities & Duties: 

Our General Manager is responsible for leading and managing all areas of the assigned Distribution Center:

  • Provide outstanding leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Work closely with quality control personnel to review product consistency while monitoring shrink rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
  • Develop and review schedules to insure customer commitments are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of personnel.
  • Monitor operational expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining productivity and product quality.
  • Maintain productivity levels and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies.
  • Maintain and support a superior food safety and preventative maintenance program.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all team members.
  • The general manager will be responsible for thinking strategically and developing goals and objectives to profitably expand the operations of the Albuquerque office with one and five year plans
  • Possess a high degree of business acumen and understand how to drive, motivate, lead the team in Albuquerque to achieve above average results in a high grow atmosphere
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Meet annual targets for sales, gross margin and net margin.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours/weekends.
  • The General Manager reports directly to the Owner of the company.
