Job Description: 

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Greenhouse Grower as we expand our team in the New England area. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated and hands-on with excellent organizational and communication skills. Knowledge of growing commercial crops in a greenhouse environment, strong technical skills, and demonstrated leadership abilities are highly desirable.

Requirements: 
  • 8-10 years of experience growing plants in diverse climates 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or equivalent preferred, plus 3-5 years of managerial experience in a production agricultural environment required as well greenhouse production methods
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, problem solving, customer service, confidentiality, excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment are critical to success in this position 
  • Must possess strong analytical abilities, able to multi-task, time management and organization skills and able to maintain a decorum of confidence and attention to detail in the accuracy of work required 
  • General comfort level with a variety of computer systems including climate, irrigation, and boiler systems 
  • Must be available to work extended hours, holidays and weekends   
  • Candidate must be comfortable with the following working conditions: moving industrial machinery, ability to lift 10-50lbs, bees and varied climate
  • Passion for detail and commitment to quality
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive work environment
  • Manage the climate systems including the irrigation and boiler systems (requires strong technical skills)
  • Contribute to managing the greenhouse planting plan, the labor needs, IPM, and the COGS
  • Monitor/develop methods to reduce costs/increase efficiencies and overall asset protection
  • Responsible for maintaining greenhouse inventory items
  • Contribute to the forecasting process
  • Research other greenhouses to be on top of industry trends and methods
  • Contribute to budgets (yield, labor and other COGS) 
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or equivalent preferred.
