Job Description:
Well-established successful and diversified Produce Distributor headquartered in New York is currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated Potato – Onion category specialist to increase sales and assist in procurement. The ideal candidate should bring strong grower/shipper and customer relationships, keen work and business ethics. Responsibilities & Duties:
- Utilize your existing procurement and sales relationships by leveraging commodity, customer, regional diversity, and infrastructure to increase sales.
- Manage and expand existing customer accounts, including wholesale, retail, and food service accounts.
- Seek out and develop new customers and grower/shipper relationships.
- Manage time to formulate and execute day-to-day sales, programs and market-driven accounts.
- Collaborate with existing sales team on customer and commodity growth, pricing strategy, and program implementation and planning.
- Maintain sales targets and category growth.
- Support growth of complementary divisions regionally.
- Prepare/ Review bi- weekly market reports.
- Assist in daily procurement.
- Assist and develop strategies for upcoming regions, materials, costs, quality and specifications.
- Constant evaluation on a monthly frequency to ensure recurring business stays on track.
- Promotional planning and organization- to ensure supply, costs, and quality.
- Take an active role in selling along with strong participation in making presentations to prospective customers.
- Negotiate revised billing resulting from USDA inspection reports when applicable.
- Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supply.
- Manage service levels and inventory of assigned categories.
- Make purchase decisions and manage process for order fulfillment.
- Minimize cost of goods.

- Manage USDA inspection process when necessary.
- Support established logistical procedures to facilitate product arrival.
Qualifications:
- Prior produce sales/procurement experience dealing specifically with potatoes and onions.
- Knowledge of U.S.D.A. - requirements and manage USDA inspection process when necessary.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Keen analytical skills with the ability/comfort to make sound decisions and problem solve.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Personal accountability.
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills, team player.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Be able to set priorities, meet deadlines and able to accomplish team objectives.
- Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with computer competency, including Excel & Word.
Compensation:
- Salary DOE, potential incentives available
