Retail Sales Acct Mgr - East #1852S

Job Description: 

We are an International company that provides packaging for produce distribution to the retail marketplace. As the growth of our company continues, we are looking for a Retail Sales Account Manager that enjoys working from a remote base, but will also be reaching out and interacting with clients in person. This individual will be responsible for accounts in the Eastern Region of the US.

Externally, the Account Manager will interact with Produce, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Sustainability Executives as well as, Corporate Buyers, Regional Buyers, Category Managers, Store Managers, Assistants, and Grower-Shippers. Internally the Account Manager will interact with our Company's Grower Sales, Audit, and Commodity Managers.  All activities will need to support any increase in the number of recollections from retailers in assigned territory.   

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Must achieve budget Recollection goals for accounts in assigned territory
  • Develop detailed Strategic Account Plans for each account in the assigned territory
  • Utilize all the resources in the Grower Sales and Commodity Management teams to execute account plans, driving base and incremental conversions.
  • Working with the Grower Sales and Commodity Management teams, execute account plans to improve packaging compliance and “Winback” grower business from Company competitors.
  • Work with Grower Sales and Commodity Management teams to establish packaging pack outs for Retail Customers in assigned territory by utilizing Company standard specifications or conducting field trials for special packs.
  • Utilize audit data to identify Conversion, Compliance, and Winback opportunities
  • Secure customer data to support forecasting packaging demand through promotional periods and spikes in volume driven by seasonal commodities.
  • Responsible for researching, analyzing, and building presentations demonstrating the company value proposition to secure new retail business within the assigned territory
  • Work consistently at retail distribution centers and stores with retailer quality control, logistics, merchandising, store management, and buyers to ensure the Company Packaging Value Proposition is understood at all times by all retailer stakeholders
  • Monitor for packaging best practices at store level through regular random store visits, checking for packaging training posters in back room, and ensuring that all retail staff understands how to use packaging, and reverse logistics
  • Assist Company's logistics department by researching and analyzing customer reverse logistics to monitor turns of packaging.
  • Consistently research the marketplace for new opportunities; stay current on advancing technologies, competitor new product development, and competitor performance with the market.
  • Engage in industry trade associations and events
Requirements:
  • College Degree in Business or Agribusiness-related field (Bachelors)  or equivalent industry experience required
  • Ability to establish solid rapport with produce personnel at HQ, warehouse, stores and at the grower level.
  • Must be geographically located to assigned retailers and willing/able to travel at least 50% of the work week
  • 5 + years of related experience in sales, preferably in the fresh produce industry
  • Previous sales experience contacting regional and national retailers at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Position is field based and requires a minimum of 50% travel
  • Maintaining knowledge of the current status of the competitive environment in the packaging industry

  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in standard business applications included in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and Power Point
