We are looking to hire a Senior Produce Buyer for our procurement team in Colorado.
As the Senior Produce Buyer you will be sourcing and purchasing the highest quality, healthiest, organic produce available for our customers. You will also be building strong vendor relationships, sourcing new vendors, managing product procurement and inventory levels, and achieving margin targets.

Requirements:
- 5+ years produce or commodity food buying experience
- Strong quantitative aptitude
- Must be able to work flexible hours depending on the work load, including overtime and weekends without notice. This position will be 5-6 days a week (possibly Saturdays and Sundays).
- You must be ready and willing to learn and adapt to proprietary buying tools and systems.
- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
- Proficiency with Excel
- Experience sourcing and negotiating costs
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
Responsibilities & Duties:
Sourcing & Procurement
- Assess and recommend new direct sources of produce and build relationships with new farms
- Build, strengthen, and maintain long term relationships with existing suppliers
- Manage direct farm relationships to deliver agreed upon product inventory and quality levels
- Negotiate cost, quality, and terms on all products
- Implement plans to improve the range of produce available for customers
- Purchase produce that meets customer needs and DTDO standards
- Achieve margins and shrink targets
Inventory Management
- Track orders, receipts, quality, and availability for the region
- Proactive daily communications with QC, Receiving, Consolidation, and Location Management teams
- Daily communications with the central Produce Merchandising team on shorts, shrink, out-of-stocks, and overages
- Monitor spoilage and shrink for the region and recover losses from suppliers where appropriate
- Assist as needed with quality control during consolidation/receiving process (Saturdays and may include Sundays)
- Coordinate with Procurement Assistants to ensure invoice reconciliation
- Arrange for transportation or storage of purchased products where necessary
Additional Tasks
- While reporting directly to the Produce Procurement Manager, you will be managing the Replenishment Produce Buyer
- You will work closely and collaborate with the Produce Buying team, Location Warehouse staff, and Central Merchandising team
