Job Description: 

We are a company that hauls produce all over the Western region of the United States. We are currently seeking a Controller at our headquarters in Central California.  The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp on Ag finance from an accounting perspective as well as the ability to direct the preparation of reports and statements which summarize and forecast business activities and financial position including key operating metrics, analysis of income and expenses, capital expenditures and cash flows.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, Human Resources, and Operations etc.
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for the executive management team
  • Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary
  • Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms
  • Work closely with the executive management team in the development and economic evaluation of various benefit programs for staff and program components
  • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and casualty/liability insurance agent(s)
Education: 
  • BA Degree in accounting and 8 plus years of accounting experience in the Ag industry.  
  • CPA/CMA a plus.

Qualifications: 
  • The ideal candidate will have proven success in an accounting environment, utilizing accounting software - knowledge of Famous a plus 
  • Prior experience in the agricultural and/or trucking industry a plus
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Successful completion of one budget cycle, which includes preparing reports, review with managers and analysis throughout the cycle
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create  and develop accounting reports and systems
  • Must be well organized, a self-starter, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities
  • Must  be able to make sound independent decisions based on available data
  • Excellent  communication and interpersonal skills.
