Operations Controller #1593S

Job Description:

A prominent produce company on the Central Coast of California is looking for an Operations Controller to be responsible for the accounting and finance operations for three separate entities. In this position, the ideal candidate will report to the Director of Corporate Accounting and be responsible for a group of direct and indirect reports.

The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of both farming and processing from an accounting perspective as well as the ability to direct the preparation of reports and statements which summarize and forecast business activities and financial position including key operating metrics, analysis of income and expenses, capital expenditures and cash flows.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the accounting supervisors and teams at 3 separate locations.
Direct the preparation of all monthly and quarterly financial reports including complex sales summaries and operational reviews.
Review all financials for accuracy.
Create monthly, quarterly and seasonal snap shots for the Board of Directors.
Oversee all customer rebate calculations and reviews.
Work closely with the operations team to identify bottlenecks, and increase labor efficiency, and profitability.
Perform analysis and dollar cost averaging of grower accounting.
Evaluate and create new or modified methods and procedures to improve processes at the beginning of the season to determine and optimize harvesting costs.
Evaluate and create new or modified methods and procedures for value added accounting.
Hire, review and develop staff as needed.

Requirements:

BA Degree in accounting and 8+ years of accounting experience in the agriculture industry that includes farming and processing. (CPA/CMA a plus)
Strong analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well cross-functionally in all levels of the organization
Highly proficient in MS Excel, experience with Famous Software a plus
Bilingual in Spanish helpful, but not required
