Job Description: 

SUMMARY:

Develops and manages growing and harvesting activities of Broccoli by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the harvest of Broccoli.
  • Determine when, where and how much will be harvested on any given day; continuously working with harvesters to ensure that the quality of the pack is up to the companies standards.
  • Generate 3 week estimates for sales to determine forecast, track and account for skipped and or lost acres.
  • Work with PCA’s to determine when to spray and what the target is.
  • Work with the growers to achieve company goals.
  • Work with seed companies to ensure we are using the best possible varieties available to the company.
  • Work with marketing to trial new materials when presented.
  • Work with vendors to ensure constant inventory in the necessary growing regions.
  • Work with management on planting schedules and or issues.
  • Manage outside deals, contracts and reconcile with accounting staff.
  • Manage transition from growing region to growing region; able to relocate and travel to Mexico and Yuma
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree (B. S.) or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Must be able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Must be able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or the board of directors.  Must be bilingual – English/Spanish.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Must be able to calculate acres.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

  • Personal computer, email, fax machines, standard office software (MS Office).
