Job Description: 

Coastline Family Farms has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated Sales Representative in our Salinas, CA headquarters. 

We are seeking a produce sales professional with strong and innovative business development skills. This position will focus on business development and will also manage current business relationships.  

Founded in 1991, Coastline is an independent, privately held, vertically integrated, year-round grower-shipper of more than 25 top quality fresh vegetable products farmed on premium growing land in California, Arizona, and Mexico.

A top tier grower-shipper in the Salinas Valley, Coastline still operates under the management of the company’s partners, who remain directly involved in the daily business. Founded on serving the high volume needs of the foodservice industry and united in the common goal to lead the industry in superior service, the Coastline team has consistently achieved 100% fulfillment of all contract orders without a single carton being cut - even when faced with the most severe market shortages.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Seek out and establish new customers and accounts
  • Maintain customer relations via phone, email, written and promotional media
  • Service existing accounts by advising of product availability, pricing, quality, delivery, and other key factors, and obtains orders
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints or concerns;  advises management of any significant concern and provides recommendations for resolution or corrective measures
  • Coordinate transportation requirements as needed
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, current products, new products, delivery schedules, etc
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly and annual activity reports
  • Work in close coordination with Sales Assistant and may provide supervision and training
  • Requires some travel
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills: 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in oral and written medium
  • Excellent telephone skills and demonstrated proficiency in composing written communication
  • Persuasive, courteous, perceptive to customers’ needs, and possesses strong customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems/issues, research and resolve issues
  • Diligent, ambitious and confident                       
  • Self-starter, resourceful and possesses strong organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or related field or 8 years experience in sales as substitute for degree
  • 5 years direct or indirect sales experience in produce, food or agriculture 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of Famous software is a Plus
