Organic Sales Representative

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Secures new accounts by spending time in the field, obtaining initial and repeat orders; utilizing excellent time management skills relative to planning and organizing daily and weekly work schedules to call on existing or potential customers.
  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor and tailoring a presentation to their needs.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing as well as the potential volume of potential and existing accounts.
  • Submits orders taken in person, or by fax, phone and email to order entry. Double checks accuracy of orders and follows up with customers to insure customer delight.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual customer and competitive analyses.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products and merchandising techniques, etc.
  • Becomes a partner with each customer and works together with them to grow their business using a consultative approach.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/opportunities; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Analyses historical account records regularly to make sure customer revenues are continuing to grow.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Learns, understands and applies the principals of need satisfaction selling in a consultative relationship.
  • Prior Produce Sales Experience is required, preferably with experience/familiarity with Organics.

Qualifications: 
  • College degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Three (3) or more years of produce sales experience required.
  • Motivation for sales and success. 
  • Professional, well-Spoken in appearance and demeanor.
  • Experience with MS Office is required.
  • Knowledge of Prophet is a plus.
