Job Description: 

We are a growing, employee owned, local produce distributor who’s been servicing the Northwest market for 30 years. We have distribution centers in Washington, Oregon, California and Alaska.

We are currently searching for a Produce Broker to join our team in Clackamas, OR to help continue our growth and provide outstanding customer service.

As a Produce Broker you are responsible for the procurement and national sales of produce. You will coordinate procurement & sales activities with other brokers under the supervision of the CPTC Director to ensure a well-coordinated product line is offered to our customers. Your main focus will be on creating new customer relationships and insuring the satisfaction of our current customers and vendors.

Requirements: 
  • At least five (5) years sales experience selling food service products; produce knowledge preferred.
  • Prefer a candidate who brings existing customer relationships.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to quickly process information and make decisions.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Quick learner, a logical thinker and team oriented.
  • Excellent and effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Effective negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Computer literate: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent follow-through skills.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Contacts suppliers to negotiate and acquire product for sale
  • Maintains effective communications with other buyers and sales representatives for product sales.
  • Manage and strengthen product line to satisfy customer needs.
  • Develop new mixes of product.
  • Has knowledge of product line, prices and similar data as required.
  • Keeping abreast of market conditions and new items.
  • Pricing strategies—developing price/order guides.
  • Meeting all individual and department sales and profit objectives.
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge of all markets and growing conditions.
  • Make presentations to potential and existing customers and vendors.
  • Maintain effective, professional relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Participate in special projects.
  • Attend all sales meetings and appointments, (be on time, punctual).
  • Make sure all orders are submitted before scheduled cut off times.
  • Responsible for processing and turning in credit memos and other job related paperwork within the set time lines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
