We have an opening for a produce professional with an eye for detail as a Merchandiser in Irwindale, CA.
As the Merchandiser you will directly impact the sales process by having continuous contact with produce managers, receivers, and department managers. You are responsible for calling on an assigned itinerary of stores and delivering superior in-store customer service by merchandising store shelves and displays. The work schedule varies; the merchandiser may work nights, weekend and early mornings. As a merchandiser you will travel daily to scheduled stores and other locations.

Requirements:
- At least two years of retail experience in the wholesale produce industry.
- Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must communicate with various produce managers.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Safe driving record and proof of insurance.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel 90% commitment.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. Will be responsible for ensuring the produce on displays and shelves are looking their best by properly rotating product.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Involves customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Strong communication skills needed to communicate with all levels of management internally and externally.
- Strong organizational skills needed for the organization, rotating and stocking shelves during each store visit.
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Will be responsible for use of a computer for internal and external communications.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with the public and store personnel when performing your duties.
- Ability to work independently and drive results. Must follow instructions and work independently as well as work under time constraints.
- Ability to react quickly to changing requirements from internal and external conditions while maintaining good communication with all parties involved. Impromptu store visits and work with customer’s schedule.
- Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as required.
- Ability to see (depth perception, near acuity and far acuity), drive a vehicle, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assist our customers in shelf management services.
- Draw attention to produce displays by merchandising store shelves and displays.
- Schedule assistance time with key accounts.
- Help with seasonal resets and table changes.
- Inform customer base of new items or changes.
- Do weekly store checks.
- Prospect new stores in territory.
- Communicate product information to buyers (pricing & quality).
- Communicate competition information to sales and buyers.
- Service customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
