Job Description: 

To better serve our growing base of customers, the Castellini Group of Companies is constructing a new facility in the greater Atlanta area. We supply fresh produce to a host of well-known foodservice and retail customers. Club Chef, a Castellini Company, is looking for a QA Manager/Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Practioner in Atlanta, GA.

The incumbent in this role will be responsible for managing the Quality Systems and Food Safety programs for the facility and ensures adherence to safe food practices and full compliance with all applicable regulations.  Additionally, this role will supervise and develop the Quality Assurance staff to provide seamless operation in all related functions.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Implement, maintain, verify, validate and continuously improve the overall Quality Systems and Food Safety (Safe Quality Food - SQF) programs for the facility (i.e. HACCP, compliance to Food Safety policies, pre-requisite programs, Club Chef and customer specifications).
  • Define the food safety and quality training needs of the organization; develop and/or approve training materials as warranted.
  • Communicate with relevant personnel information essential to the effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety (SQF) program.
  • Supervise and manage technician activities, including continuous development of related technical skills.
  • Effectively manage new product evaluations and shelf-life studies.
  • Organize and maintain shelf-life evaluation records.
  • Format and maintain Organic Girl specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), including Organic and Kosher Certification requirements.
  • Monitor performance and ensure compliance of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Verify and validate changes made to Food Safety and QA programs.
  • Ensure timely review of food safety documents necessary for customer, regulatory and inspection submissions.
  • Responsible for Food Safety Document Control.
  • Host, conduct and/or supervise internal and external Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits.   Follow up with the development of corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Lead and/or assist in food safety/product quality complaint investigations.
  • Coordinate Microbiology testing (product and environmental) to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all customer food safety and quality requirements.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding actions taken to resolve non–compliance issues.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by management from time to time.
Education: 
  • College degree in food science or related area, is required.
Skills: 
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • General computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications: 
  • Must have completed HACCP training with a minimum of two years of HACCP and GMP experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Customer and 3rd party GMP and Food Safety audit experience.   
  • The ability to proactively achieve consistent superior/excellent Food Safety and GMP audit scores.
  • The proven ability to maintain a sense of urgency and inspire similar behavior in subordinates. The ability to maintain schedule flexibility.
  • The demonstrated ability to manage projects through to completion.
  • The ability to implement and maintain HACCP based Food Safety Plans.
  • Sufficient functional knowledge and experience in the application of SQF Standards.
  • Sufficient functional knowledge of USDA National Organic Program (NOP) guidelines.
