North America Blueberry Operations Manager

Job Description: 

Directs and coordinates North American blueberry fruit procurement and operations.  Overall responsibilities include domestic cost effective procurement and logistics to get blueberries to the point of sale and to hire and manage staff to adequately fulfill the needs of such procurement and logistics.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To increase the volume of blueberries and achieve the most efficient operating costs and produce the highest quality product to meet the needs of sales.
  • Initial geographical area of responsibility would be for operations presently located in the United States and Canada. Expand the geographical reach to achieve a year round supply of Berries to meet sales needs. This to include present Berry processing operations in California, and the Pacific Northwest.
  • Fully manage and be responsible for all aspects of acquiring and packing all fresh blueberry operations.
  • Daily interact with growers and sales on pricing.
  • Work domestically in conjunction with CGI Food Safety Department to assure compliance.  Interact with all Safety Committees (in accordance with OSHA regulations) and to help ensure compliance with all safety regulations.  Ensure all employees, including employees hired through labor contractors, are properly trained in safety techniques, as well as certified in specific positions. 
  • Plans, budgets and authorizes expenditures.
  • Participates in audits as requested.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company.
  • Manage and participate in expansion activity by performing due diligence and establishing proper systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years work related experience
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in the Berry business
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to sit for long periods of time; the ability to bend or stoop to access file cabinets; the ability to work long periods on a computer keyboard; ability to lift 10-20 lbs;
