Operations Manager

Job Description: 

The main objective of the Operations Manager is to strive for high quality, productivity, and profitability of the company.  Position will lead us using flexible leadership and communication skills, overseeing the daily activity and development of our operations while innovating with us and identifying opportunities to more efficiently produce great food at a low cost.  This position offers an opportunity for growth and upward mobility.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Directing all activities for all production lines & sanitation across shifts in food manufacturing environment in accordance with plan and line goals, product standards, costs, budgets, manpower and established procedures.
  • Overseeing a workforce of approximately 300 employees in food manufacturing/ processing plant.
  • Scheduling of incoming raw material.
  • Coordinating and supporting Continuous Improvement activity through the facility.
  • Identifying opportunities to eliminate cost and/or waste by applying LEAN manufacturing principals.
  • Incorporating a culture of inclusion and continuity within all departments.
  • Identifying, developing and implementing best practices in safety and quality.
  • Providing direction and guidance to Supervisors and their activities for assigned area/shift.
  • Mentor and coach managers, supervisors and assistant supervisors for success and encourage the leaders to mentor and develop all personnel.
  • Provide leadership for employees by being a good role model.
  • Using problem solving skills and root cause analysis to resolve and/or mitigate operational issues.
  • Review department and individual employee performance, monitor productivity, efficiency, prepare assessment reports, and maintain activity logs as well as prepare reports for management.
  • Participation in budgeting, inventory control and management, and interact with vendors and suppliers.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and be good with time management, as the scope of the position is multifaceted.
  • Provide expertise, make recommendations and take a pro-active role in the decision making process of capital expenditures, upgrading manufacturing, buildings and equipment.
  • Must be proficient in written and oral communications, remain well versed of company policies and procedures, as well as inspire fellow management and employees to exceed goals.
  • Manage special projects as required.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Clean DMV Record
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managing safety and/or quality programs and processes
  • Operational understanding of warehouse/logistics processes
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing requests while maintaining a culture of accountability and execution

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Systems and Operations Management or related field and significant related experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing environment, food processing or related industry and working knowledge and experience in production/processing systems.
  • Strong technical aptitude along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software.
