We are currently looking for a capable individual to supervise a large-scale harvesting operation as a Harvest Supervisor in Santa Maria, CA!

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or closely related field
  • 2-5 years of previous applied knowledge in vegetable production
  • Organic experience a plus
  • Ability to make independent decisions and solve issues in a timely manner
  • Position requires seasonal travel and relocation to Yuma, Arizona during winter operations
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a multitude of personalities
  • Valid and un-restrictive driver’s license
  • Proficiency with computer skills (Excel, Word, Email)
  • Excellent observation and problem solving skills
  • Proficient at time management and multi-tasking
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Planning, facilitating and implementing plans and procedures for harvest crews
  • Develop, coach, and foster good working relationships with working teams
  • Provide assistance, structure and guidance to all members of Management
  • Harvest/post-harvest management and field crew supervision
  • Develop and maintain good working relationship with Owners, Growers, and Management
  • Coordinate, equipment, employees, and foremen to safely and efficiently complete daily harvest orders
  • Maintain efficiency, speed, and quality of harvest crews
  • Maintaining all harvest data and records
  • Evaluate financial statements and makes budget proposals
  • Figure out loads per field and how many fields are being harvested (quantity tonnage)
  • Researches, plans, organizes, orders truck, and set-up for harvest
  • Go over condition of fields for harvesting and deal with any related problems
  • Offer guidance and instruction to harvesting foreman
  • Records information, such as quality, supply, timing, and yield
  • Inspects equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Enforces safety regulations and ensures that policies and procedures are followed
  • Maintain and enforce a safe work environment
  • Evaluates financial statements and makes budget proposals
