Job Description:
Baldor Specialty Food is looking for Assistant Receiving Produce Manager with 5-10 years of warehouse and operations experience. This position is located at our beautiful modern facility on 155 Food center Drive inside the Hunts point market in the Bronx.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Assistant Receiving Produce Manager will be responsible for the following:
Operations
- Use internal receiving report to identify and assign products that have not been assigned to a slot location.
- Move product around to make room for inbound items.
- Manage inbound delivery of over the road trucks; unload according to warehouse and/or production needs.
- Perform daily quality and quantity check of all inbound product according to USDA regulations, reject any damaged items.
- Communicate critical issues to purchasing department.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, and warehouse.
- Verify prices and UM (unit of measure) on every item, mark stock items using proper identification labels.
- Make sure all items are put away in the proper slot location and are easily accessible.
- Handle all USDA, PACA, losses and adjustment claims.
- Provide ongoing assistance and direction to all warehouse workers.
- Oversee the returns department, make sure all return products are properly inspected, keyed-in to the receiving system and put away in the appropriate slot location.
- Oversee the Fresh Cut Receiving Department.
Warehouse
- Inventory control: know which items are in the warehouse, what is expected to come in and when, communicate with buyers for replenishment needs.
- Perform slot location audit, examine and inspect stock items for defects.
- Make suggestions to rework or pull stock according to the product’s shelf-life and physical condition.
- Validate put away/let down rotation has been followed by hi-lo operators according to the product condition.
Supervisory
- Hiring: assess the hiring needs of the department, conduct interviews, and develop job descriptions as needed.
- Train new hires on company policy, including SOP’S, SQF, HAACP and GMP programs and procedures.
- Assist the manager with performance reviews, write-ups, and disciplinary action paperwork.
- Certify warehouse personnel to use a forklift.
- Manage employee schedule, vacation, sick and personal time.
Safety
- Make sure all employees receive training and properly operate equipment such as pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- Make sure all supplies, tools and equipment are stored appropriately in order to ensure compliance with SQF, QA/HAACP and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a produce distribution environment with some supervisory experience.
- The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to work 6 days out of the week, schedule will vary.
- H.S Degree or can substitute education for experience.
- Preferably Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Must have experience managing a group of 15-20 employees.
- Must have knowledge of FIFO system
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous background dealing with a warehouse management system preferably knighted.
- Agree to work in a cold environment 30-38 degrees or below zero.
- Full warehouse operations knowledge including receiving, inventory, shipping and returns.
- Must be capable of receiving at least 30-50 trucks a day.
- Should be familiar with the following paperwork, bill of lading, purchase order, passing and invoice.
- Computer skills, MS Outlook, Excel, should be able to read and understand reports.
- Solid knowledge of USDA guidelines, grades, country of origin and seasonality.
- Familiar with Alpha numeric slot location.
- Knowledge of SOP, SQF, QC, QA and HAACP programs, procedures and policies.
