Job Description: 

Awe Sum Organics, Inc. is a well-established importer and marketer of organic fruit. The company has been in business for 25 years and is a leader in the organic produce industry, with domestic and international product supply and nation-wide and Canadian distribution.

We are currently looking for an Inventory Controller to join our team in Santa Cruz, CA. 

The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for assisting in maintaining and managing our inventory and inbound receipts at our FOB shipping points. This includes two types of inventory – fresh produce and packaging supplies.

Because we are a sales-based company, the inventory at these locations must always be accurate.

As the Inventory Coordinator, you’ve got to interact wonderfully with people AND data-entry systems! Since our inventory is stored at remote locations around the US, you’ll be interacting with people via phone and email to get your job done, while also interacting with your entire team in the office. The data and information you receive from all of these people needs to be entered accurately and quickly into various data systems. This data is what we use to make decisions for our growers and our customers. 

Position Reports to: 
You’ll report to the Inventory Manager and work hand-in-hand with our Sales team, Accounting team, and other staff, as needed.

Requirements: 
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of two years related experience.  Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Accounting experience is a plus
  • Previous produce sales or inventory knowledge highly desirable
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent telephone communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and tasks as needed
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to focus in the midst of an active environment and changing priorities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work some overtime during our peak Summer season--required

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assist in Managing our inventory at our FOB shipping points by as directed :
    • Performing regularly scheduled inventory reconciliations for both types of inventory – fresh produce and packaging supplies
    • Assisting in  the re-conditioning process (when our fruit arrives to the US and needs to be re-conditioned before shipping to our customers)
    • Assisting in the bagging process (when our fruit needs to be converted from bulk to individual bags for retail sale by our customers)
    • Receiving inbounds orders and transfers from warehouse partners
    • Lotting of daily sales orders as directed
    • Creating reports to track aged inventory
    • Order packaging supplies for our fresh produce as directed
  • Review invoices from our service providers to ensure accurate billing
  • Work hand-in-hand with the sales/logistics/Quality and Finance teams on any actions that involve our inventory while it’s at our FOB shipping locations (ex: product transfers from one location to another, customer returns or rejections, etc.)
  • Maintain our current training documents for this position; create new training documents as needed
  • Create your own reports in various systems to further any of our objectives
