We are currently looking for a Quality Control Manager in Baton Rouge, LA.
As a Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of incoming and outgoing produce and floral meets our high standards and our customers’ expectations.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or technical school; or two to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of produce and floral products preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organized, and highly motivated.

- Establish the QC goals with the Director of Produce and ensure goals are met.
- Ensure QC procedures are followed on a daily basis.
- Monitor product receiving, handling, shipping, and storage conditions.
- Ensure employees comply with all safety rules, regulations, and guidelines; make on the spot correction of unsafe acts and maintain an inspection ready distribution center
- Communicate to appropriate supervisor when a product needs to be brought down and/or removed from a slot, when necessary.
- Aid warehouse inventory control department, as needed.
- Audit all documentation pertaining to the proper rotation and dating of produce and floral items.
- Process produce and floral returns, warehouse strays and damages daily.
- Inspect every pick slot every day and prepare slot inspection reports, placing below required spec product on hold, removing damaged, product sticker but not delivered, strays, damaged, trash, outdated and below required spec product from the pick slot.
- Assist Category Specialists and Director with Crisis Communication.
- Prepare detailed reports for every distressed item - include dates, counts and photos.
- Inspect Cool Compliance.
- Work with warehouse to review SOPs for all receiving /reserve slot/ picking shipping and receiving.
- Maintain and communicate specification on items based on crop and weather.
- Communicate with the entire Produce Buy Team and Sales Team daily on any product issues.
- Assist with any product recalls.
- Perform necessary QC training.
- Organize and coordinate supplier audits annually.
- Continuously monitor that employees follow Best Practices and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Re-work product, when reasonable, that is identified below AG standards that is easily reworked. This will help to reduce warehouse shrink. When in question, see Category Specialists or Department Director.
- Conduct outbound dock audits, random and targeted, for stores that have repeat stacking, accuracy and product quality issues.
- Photograph and communicate exceptional 4 star product to the department Director as a tool for the Merchandising/Sales Team to generate incremental sales.
