We are currently searching for a Technologist - Technical Services in Guadalupe, CA.

The Technologist - Technical Services is an entry level position that supports and aides the Technical Services team in the development of new products and improvement of existing product lines as well as the qualification of new packaging materials. As the Technologist - Technical Services you will work alongside Marketing, Quality, Operations/Production, Purchasing and Technology departments.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science/Agricultural Sciences/Plant Biology/Post harvest technology with a minor in packaging.
  • Basic knowledge of packaging materials, packaging equipment and packaging tests.
  • Ability to design experiments and trial protocols.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of ASTM and TAPPI test procedures that apply to food packaging.
  • Self- starter with passion for packaging and innovation.  
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Work closely with the Technical Service team and New Product Development team to determine goals and objectives.
  • Assist Technical Service Technologist to run shelf-life testing on new and existing products.
  • Develop detailed and high quality packaging specifications to insure quality materials and best value for money on all packaging components used at our facilities.
  • Conduct packaging line trials at manufacturing facilities to validate and qualify packaging performance, structure or design.
  • Develop documentation for packaging line trials, SOPS, procedures and testing.
  • Write specifications for new products, which include SOP’s, manufacturing specifications, and component specifications.
  • Assist with improving existing Eat Smart products through tray and film qualification as deemed by NPI team.
  • Assist with preparing samples for Level 2 sample requests.
  • Give presentations on key projects supported during any current or future innovation programs.
