Inbound Logistics Manager

Job Description: 

Apio Inc/GreenLine Logistics is seeking an experienced Inbound Logistics Manager, based out of our Bowling Green, OH facility. The Inbound Logistics Manager is responsible for the development and execution of strategic inbound routing plans and dynamic load planning using company assets and third party common carriers. This position is a support function that works closely with Scheduling, Procurement, Production, suppliers, and freight carriers. The position will include direct responsibility for all routing of inbound raw product freight, outbound finished goods deliveries via third party common carrier, third party cross docks, back haul coordination, and intercompany shipments. The success of the position will be measured on service level, expense management, load factor and cost per mile driven. Correct execution of this position will result in all freight and inbound costs being managed to the lowest levels possible while maximizing service levels.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with production facilities for accurate arrival times
  • Managing all daily dispatching duties
  • TMS functional super-user capable of managing systems set-up, training and proper use
  • Carrier Contract negotiations and compliance
  • Development of carrier scorecards and formalized, structured carrier business reviews
  • Monitor Developments and New Technologies in Supply Chain Logistics
  • Manage to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – empty miles, fuel cost per mile, cost per mile, payload, accessorial costs, miles, dwell time, equipment utilization (hours), on time delivery and temperature quality
  • Develop and implement process improvements
  • Participate in scheduled meetings as needed to stay abreast of company requirements and opportunities and keep the appropriate all company departments abreast of trends and changes in the logistics industry
  • Resolving customer issues aligned with any service failures that arise
  • Tracks and communicates revenue and performance results
  • Represent company during customer meetings and schedule calls
  • Budget and P & L responsibility
Education: 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in logistics or business administration and at least 5 years' experience in Temp controlled Brokerage
Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge of Freight Brokerage Processes
  • Experience in Produce industry
  • Requires proven team building, negotiating, communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Direct experience with routing and load planning. Knowledge of routing software and transportation management systems
  • Private fleet experience (desired, but not necessary), Asset Management, DOT HOS Compliance, Monitor compliance with local, state, federal safety, motor carrier and environmental laws and regulations, Freight Claims and loss management, personnel management and expense management
  • Experience with Forward Distribution
  • Knowledge of transportation law
