We are currently looking to add a Director of Procurement to our team in Guadalupe, CA.

As the Director of Procurement you will be expected to consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable an ongoing, continuous supply chain of all VA raw products. You will also need to collaborate effectively, internally and with suppliers. Other responsibilities include developing effective negotiation strategies to enable success; and managing market complexity. You will mentor and manage other procurement professionals within the department as well.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree-Management, Economics, Plant Science (Ag related preferred but not required) - and direct experience.
  • 3-5 years analytical, planning, procurement, supply chain or other relevant experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management and negotiations, supplier continuous improvement programs.
  • Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices.
  • Knowledge of business ethics.
  • Ability to influence at an Executive Level both internally and externally.  Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional communication both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Excel, JDE, PowerPoint, and others.

50% of the work performed by the Director of Procurement is in the office, the other half is performed in local field travel.

As the Director of Procurement, you will travel to sourcing areas of Mexico, Peru and Guatemala.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics.
  • Effectively develop and lead complex sourcing strategies, and manage suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance.
  • Consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership.
  • Develop effective negotiation strategies to enable success.
  • Leverage effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players.
  • Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement.
  • Proficiently employ programs and project management tools and techniques.
  • Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.
  • Provide day to day oversight and with a ‘hands on’ execution role.
  • Effectively motivate and collaborate within the team and across peer group.
  • Lead using demonstrated and proven experience and the application of best practice procurement skills.
  • Lead cross functional teams.
  • Work within peer group and leadership infrastructure to ensure that best practice and leverage opportunities are delivered.
  • May collaborate with other senior level employees.
