Fresh Produce Inventory Specialist - San Francisco

Job Description: 

Fresh Produce Inventory Specialist will take initiative, solve problems and manage Pacific Organic’s consolidation inventory at multiple third party warehouses to ensure they are meeting communication and program execution expectations. With general supervision, will work cooperatively and cross-functionally with other team members in sales, category management, transportation, operations, accounting and inbound logistics.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Act as inbound and outbound logistics expert for assigned products and categories.
  • Achieve established service level product quality requirements measured by credit ratio goals.
  • Establish and develop expectations, policies and procedures for new and existing cold storage warehouses. 
  • Ensure proper shipping, receiving, quality control and inventory processes through follow-up and troubleshooting problems in collaboration with Pacific Organic’s, Albert’s Organics, and/or third party warehouse management organizations.
  • Ensure lowest cost-to-deliver decisions are made by working with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage excess inventory process for assigned commodities.
  • Manage poor quality inventory process for assigned commodities.
  • Assist in the negotiation of warehouse and transportation vendor logistics terms and conditions.
  • Plan, schedule and manage the product inbound and outbound transportation requirements.
  • Provide training and establish best practices at third party warehouses to ensure effective program execution. 
  • Communicate all required information in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Publish required reports in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in an ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related field, or equivalent training and experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics setting within perishable environment, preferably with produce. 
  • Basic understanding of transportation, warehousing, supply chain executive software and third-party logistics.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus. 
  • Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays and evenings as necessary and possess a valid and current driver’s license and be able to travel as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Office setting; frequently required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk;, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell, use hands to finger . 
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Some weekend, holiday and/or evening work may be required. 
  • Some travel may be required.
